The family and his wife represent a further evolution of his personal and artistic history. As a consequence he opens with his wife a craft workshop whose activity includes various types of production: engravings on silver and gold, paintings with religious subjects and others of different types, sculptures designed and conceived as furniture components, and art jewellery. At the base there is always the artist's conception, who creates the archetype from which to generate subsequent copies. Young people work in the workshop, young artists that in turn give birth to their own activities, for this reason the "Catraro Goffredo Bottega d'Arte" is a true pioneer for the industry in Castelfidardo and neighbouring towns; it remains open until 1999, in the last period under the guidance of his wife. The artist, in fact, devotes himself exclusively to writing a book, a collection of poems, and to the organization of a major exhibition including paintings and sculptures, an exhibition that finally makes his artistic path fully known, with works unknown to the general public. A project unfortunately interrupted by his sudden death in 1994. In 2004, ten years after his death, in the context of the "Leggere il '900" event, an initiative created to honour those characters who made the history of that time, the Municipality of Castelfidardo devoted him a one-man exhibition at Palazzo Mordini, historic building of the town centre, entitled \"Flussi di Materia\", from which the ramarkable book edited by Lucilla Niccolini takes its title.

GOFFREDO CATRARO

Goffredo Catraro is born in 1927 in Castelfidardo. From an early age, as well as being involved in the accordion manufacturing family business, he begins to make art, expanding his interests in contemporary culture and politics, philosophy and poetry, establishing exchange relationships and creating discussion opportunities with other artists and intellectuals. His activity as a tuner leads him to travel; particularly significant is the long stay in New York, a city that he feels closer to his vision of life, such as Milan in Italy; but the most important thing is that during this period his artistic intentions are outlined in a clear and defined way: his wood and stone sculptures, as well as his poetic verses, are brought to life. The exhibition held at the Puccini art gallery of Ancona, in 1962, represents his debut. Audiences and critics quickly realize that they are faced with interesting and certainly different creations in the art scene characterizing those years, and particularly impressive for them is the choice and of different materials, the way the latter are transformed; the variety and complexity of forms, from figurative to abstract, up to figurative-abstract; and even more relevant are the philosophy and poetry already inherent in the primal artistic expression of Goffredo Catraro. Of the same year is the one-man exhibition at the Galleria Gussoni in Milan, thirty-seven works greeted with equal interest. Always in 1962 he marries Roberta with whom he has two children, Alberto and Manuela.
